Crazy Salesman Went Over 90mph Eight Times
When we originally had the FleetMatics system put into our company vehicles all the employees with vehicles were just told that they had new GPS systems installed so we could send their calls without tying up the phone lines.
We had a fairly new salesman at that point who seemed to be going through a much larger amount of gas money than his predecessor without having more calls. We soon discovered why... That first weekend he took his truck on a 50+ mile trip out onto a dirt road to go fishing, then he took the truck off-roading in the forest for a bit before returning home. As the week went on we found out that he would spend hours just driving around. During this time he also had the most speed threshold hits, and even went over 90mph 8 times...
After our covert week was over and the guys were informed that we could track them his behavior got slightly better... Until one night we got a phone call that one of our trucks was involved in a road rage altercation. We had two vehicles in the area the caller said the incident happened. With FleetMatics we were able to confirm it was our salesman’s truck and he is thankfully no longer employed by the company! Without the gps tracking we would have had no way of proving it was him.
