Getting a Drunk Driver Off the Road
We had suspected our parts delivery driver had a drinking problem but could never actually put our finger on anything to validate it. After installing the FleetMatics system and tracking the vehicle, we noticed a pattern of stops at a certain residence and a few liquor stores. A friend in the local police department confirmed that the address of the residence was a known crack house that they were monitoring. One day after we tracked him in a liquor store visit, I went out to the delivery truck and actually found the driver pouring whisky into his Dr. Pepper can.
Needless to say, the following action possibly saved lives on the road and removed a huge liability risk for our company.
