Tech Was Driving Circles Around a Parking Lot to Kill Time!

So, one of the first possible benefits described to us during the installation of the GPS units was the ability to monitor vehicle idling time, a transgression and gas-gobbler that I had not even fathomed. Within a few weeks, we found our #1 culprit..... #1 by far. The justification is, and was, not out of the realm of understanding. Our techs work in motor rooms and on roof tops frequently and, as a result, can leave something to be desired in the area of appearance and aroma. In addition, he is a brown bagger, so the idea of a ... we'll say "work-worn" (instead of stinky and sweaty) technician copping a squat for a brown-bag lunch in the deli area of your local supermarket is, well, frowned upon. So, he found a solution, which I discovered shortly thereafter when I was trying to figure out why it took him 78 minutes to travel 6.4 miles. I assumed a massive traffic jam on a rural highway with few alternate routes.... Wrong! I discovered that he was driving his van in circles in the parking lot of his previous service call, while lunching and awaiting his next run. Now this is distressing on so many levels: Fuel consumption, vehicle wear, and the kicker - customer and store shoppers' complaints about the crazy Hussmann tech circling in the parking lot.
