The last thing a business owner wants is a call from one of his drivers saying he has just been in an accident or that his vehicle has been stolen. Or worse, having something happen to the driver and not knowing the exact situation or if the driver is okay. There is no way to know where the incident occurred without a GPS tracking system.
For example, in the transportation industry, a limo driver could be driving a group of people from one destination to the next, not knowing a thing about the passengers in his vehicle, but just trusting them to tell him where to go. What if the passengers are drinking and aren’t using their best judgment? Without fleet tracking, your dispatchers don't know where your vehicles are, and your drivers' safety could be at risk.
The group begins making requests for the driver to divert to alternate locations not previously scheduled. These routes take the vehicle into very low use areas and the driver becomes somewhat concerned for his safety…
Thank goodness you have a GPS tracking system installed! The driver notifies dispatch of the route changes and quietly lets dispatch know he is uncomfortable. The dispatcher uses the fleet tracking software to watch the driver’s progress as he moves along the route and notices the vehicle drive past one of his turns. They immediately call the driver to make sure everything is okay. The driver tells the dispatcher that the group now wants to head to a different final destination. He tells the passengers that the phone call was from his dispatch center checking on their status as they had noticed the change in routing from their gps tracking system. From this point on, the group makes no additional route changes and tempers their activities in the car. You and your driver feel much more comfortable knowing that all the passengers are aware that the limo has fleet tracking installed.
