As a small business owner, you are faced with making many decisions on a daily basis. Often times, prioritizing which appointments to schedule and when, as well, as which calls should be addressed first can take up a lot of unnecessary time. It’s important, especially when managing vehicles and drivers, not to cut corners around managing the parts of your business that are essential for success. So ask yourself this…what elements of your business would suffer if you made the decision not to make a decision? 

“Call me in three months” is a common phrase most business owners are used to saying. Either due to lack of budget, being pulled in too many directions or living in a constant state of prioritizing ever-changing goals, those very words can cost you a lot of money. So what does indecision mean? Technically, it is the total cost to you and your business by not making the crucial decisions you KNOW you need to make, as well, as understanding the impact it has on you and your employees both long and short term. Take, for instance, a telematics solution. Do you know how much money you are putting into fuel? Can you tell which drivers are wasting precious dollars by idling? And most importantly, what is the cost of each one of those speeding tickets, or maintenance events due to harsh driving that your drivers just can't curb?

A word to the wise…don’t put off making the decision to utilize a telematics solution that will help you recognize return on investment and give you better visibility into all fleet-related activities too long. You will be missing out on the crucial pieces of information to help your fleet run smarter and safer. These types tracking solutions often help businesses’ maximize productivity and increase the effectiveness of daily operations, which is a win-win for everyone. 

The next time you take pause in making a major decision, such as deploying a telematics solution, take a moment to find out what you may be missing out on if you make the decision to not make a decision. As a business owner, a lot rides on your shoulders and it can be stressful to prioritize what tasks get done first and what items can take a back seat. Our advice – make a list of those that are mission critical to your business and employees. What’s important to you ultimately is important to them…don’t miss out on jumping at those opportunities to strive and thrive.
